Hi… my name is Juan,

Adopted 1-10-18

Juan has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.

Things were going great with my new family, but then I had to return to TALGV due to my dad’s illness, which made me sad because I’m a very sensitive guy. If you visit, you may see me watching people go by with a reflective expression in my eyes. I yearn to be with them, to be someone’s happy friend. And I try my best to please—I ride well in a car, have great house manners, and, with my short legs, I don’t readily jump on furniture. I’m not a big barker, but I do love to be admired, and you know what? That admiration could be a two-way street if we meet heart-to-heart and see the best in each other. What do you say? Will you let me devote myself to you?

Hi… my name is Sully,

Adopted 3-25-18

I know in my heart someone’s out there missing me ‘cause it’s pretty obvious by my demeanor that I was once the recipient of lots of attention and love! As a stray, no one knows exactly what went on before I arrived, but I’m betting that what’s going to happen after will let me and my new people create our own “life stories” together. The shelter environment doesn’t always let us highlight our best qualities (there are too many of us vying for attention!), but at 18 months young, there’ll be plenty of time to get to know each other and I’ll prove what a fabulous feline “phenom” I can be! Won’t you take this opportunity to expand your social circle and take me home?

Hi… my name is Ralphie,

Adopted 2-25-18

Please let me show you—up close and personal—why people say that “dog is man and woman’s best friend.” (Cats have their meaningful proverbs, too, but I’ll let them speak for themselves.) I was a stray dog, covered in cactus needles, and that only made me happy to be found. My rescuer said I love people, which leads to the top reason a dog could be your best friend—we love unconditionally. At just 18-months old, I’m active but can be mellow, too, and, as your friend, affectionate when you want me to be. Already good on a leash, I’m a red and white Boxer/Staffie mix male, 58 pounds, who’s eager to learn more good-dog things to please you. And if you say the word, I’ll be the loyal, loving companion you deserve forever.

Hi… my name is Tonks,

Adopted 1-16-18

I was lost—we could say on an adventure because that sounds like a lot more fun—when a Border Patrol agent rescued me and my canine pal. We were covered in mud, she said, but fairly friendly. On arrival here, I had to be carried to my run because I was scared and because a leash was a brand new thing to me. Very quickly, though, I’ve been learning how to walk on the leash, sit when told to, and exactly what “b-a-t-h” means. I’m a 2-year-old Lab mix male, slender at just 41 pounds, and sometimes just a little shy but so eager to meet you. Once acquainted, I’m lively, playful, and happy just to be in your company, hoping to make you happy, too. Will you show me what “home” means?

Hi… my name is Coco,

Adopted 12-3-17

“Loves to play with stuffed mice and strings, purrs so loud you can practically hear him in the next room, and wants to be cuddled ALL THE TIME.” If that doesn’t convince you, then come sit with me for just a few minutes and I promise you’ll be a “goner!” My mom fell on hard times and had to move to a place that didn’t allow cats, so after living with her for four of my six years, I’m once again needing a human to shower my affection on. I must confess that I’m intimidated by dogs and over-the-top noisy little kids, but other than that, not to brag, but I’d be the perfect companion! I even like to take strolls on my leash, so I might even get you moving too!

Yes, I guess there really is “too much of a good thing,” and since I tip the scales at about 19 pounds, that “good thing” was obviously food! Needless to say, the first thing the volunteers did when I arrived was to put me on a diet, but we cats have to take it slow in the “food reduction” department, so it might take a while for me to regain my sylphlike figure, but with patience and encouragement, I know I can do it! I’m a 9-year-old mostly white dilute calico (my ears and tail are the only clues to that breed!), and I love to be petted, purr easily when you talk to me, and am sweet and loving. Sounds like a darned good combo to me! How about you?
