Animal League News

Hi… my name is Sandy,

Adopted 2-16-17

Lots of people I’ve met here at the Animal League greet me with “How did a wonderful dog like you get lost?” Isn’t that sweet? Of course, I must reply that I don’t know. Beyond noting that I was found near Walden Grove High School, my history is a mystery. But whatever happened, it gave me the chance to make lots of new friends and their attention sure makes me happy. I’m a Golden Retriever female and you can guess my color—golden—and if you think I’m often smiling, well, I probably am. I may have been a lost dog, but I’m real good at finding the joy in life—and certainly find it in my friends! If you let me into your heart and home, I’ll share that joy with you forever!

Hi… my name is Puffer,

Adopted 3-29-17

When I first arrived, I looked a lot like Yoda because I’d been in a real dust up and had to have my ear shaved so they could patch up all the injuries I’d received (you should have seen the other guy though!). I’m well on my way to recovery now though, ‘cause we felines can bounce back really fast thanks to our nine lives! At the moment, I’m enjoying the attention I’m getting (they’ve discovered I love belly rubs in addition to just plain one-on-one time!), and I’m almost my old self again – with a striking snowy coat and killer orange eyes – and ready to go on with life in a safe, “no-outdoors-allowed” home! I just know yours would be perfect!

Hi… my name is Smokey,

Adopted 3-11-17

One night, way past bedtime—about 1:30 a.m.—I was out with my dog friend, Ember. We were lost, running down the road without knowing where to go, so I was greatly relieved when we ended up here (courtesy of the police). I’m a Heeler mix female, almost 2 years old, a real sweetie at 36 pounds. My coat is a beautiful black with some white, very soft, and I hope you think I’m cute, but the best part of me is on the inside. I’m very loving—even giving kisses if you like—and playful; I say toys are good; treats are great! And what do I dream about? A home with you! Make me yours and my whole world will revolve around you. How about we start making each other happy today!

Hi… my name is Ember,

Adopted 4-10-17

Very late one night—about 1:30 a.m.—my dog friend, Smokey, and I were found running on Duval Mine Road. We didn’t know where we were going, so when we ended up here, safe and sound (courtesy of the police), it was a great relief. I’m a Heeler mix male, about 50 pounds and 18 months old, and I love making new friends. (Maybe that’s how I ended up with Smokey, although we don’t know.) When people come to see me, I’m delighted to receive their attention; my focus is totally on the person who notices what a good dog I am, capable of great loyalty. Young and playful, I’m eager to learn what you could teach me. And while they say I’m handsome and charming, what I most want to be is yours.

Hi… my name is Mandy,

Adopted 2-7-17

Mandy comes with Free Vet Care for Life.

After my mom died, her daughter wanted so badly to keep me, but one of her other cats (who she called “my neurotic Bengal!”) simply made my life miserable. She said, “Mandy deserves a better home than I can provide. She is a good kitty, loves to be brushed, eats only dry food, and always uses her litterbox. She loves to sit in a window (and if the window is open, that’s even better!), take long naps under a light blanket, and at her age deserves a loving home and a warm lap to sit on.” I’m a beautiful 14-year-old calico lady (with free vet care life) and have a sweet, affectionate nature, so won’t you let me spend the rest of my life making yours happy?

Hi… my name is Titus,

Adopted 4-18-18

“Very loving, affectionate, beautiful!” That’s what my former family said about me. So why am I here? Well, I’m not good with livestock, so if you have livestock at home, I’m not for you. They also said I’d “never been a fan of cats” and wasn’t good with small dogs. But the report changed completely when the subject was children. My former people said I “love kids.” There were three in the family and I “was always following them around as their babysitter and guardian.” Another important note: I lived outside, but they let me inside at night and reported “no accidents.” I’m a 4-1/2-year-old, rust and white Staffie mix male with beautiful blue eyes that try to tell you what a good boy I’d be for you. Will you give me the chance?

Hi… my name is Gemini,

Adopted 2-19-17

My four sisters and I were “unwanted puppies.” Luckily for us, TALGV people say they don’t even know what that means—that we’re all wanted and loved! And here’s something else I’ve learned: Being a puppy is the definition of having fun! Plus, we’re good at all kinds of puppy things, like running, jumping, rolling over, and pulling your shoelaces. We also eat well and grow without even trying! I’m Gemini—a female with a white coat and dark gray eye patches, ears, spots, and a very pretty face. I sure hope you love one of us. Okay, honestly, I hope it’s me, but won’t you come see us all? And if you have the time and patience for a puppy, maybe you can give me the best gift ever: My very own home!
