Hi… my name is Buttercup,

Adopted 1-5-17

When you look in my eyes, do you see a sweet and loving dog? I hope so, because that’s how friends describe me. My former person said I was very affectionate, very gentle, and very smart. But she couldn’t keep me because after three weeks of living together, the resident terrier decided there was one too many dogs in the home, so I had to go. And that’s okay. I still believe there’s a wonderful, forever home for me, too. I’m a 4-year-old blonde female, just under 60 pounds, leash-trained and eager to be your loyal, fun-loving companion—just turn on the hose and you’ll see a dog who knows how to have fun! Maybe today I’ll look up and see my forever friend, the one who’ll take me home. Could it be you?

Hi… my name is Zoey Ann,

Adopted 1-16-17

No one knows how I lost my eye, but if it makes no difference to you, I can assure you it makes no difference to me, ‘cause it doesn’t bother me one bit! After my mom lost her home and moved to California, a friend took me in until a relative was to have taken me, but that never happened. My temporary home was loaded with other critters – dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs – and I just never adjusted to that many other creatures vying for space and attention, so here I am, hoping for a quiet place where I can “have it all”! I love being petted (my rumbling purr will be your first clue!), and adore people, so why not be my “second eye” and let’s look at life together!

Hi… my name is Bubbles,

Adopted 1-22-17

In an empty lot, surrounded by bushes and trash, I gave birth to eight puppies! Thankfully, I was able to provide for them, but had to forage for my own food. That’s what I was doing on an I-19 exit when a man saw me, stopped and came back, and I led him to my babies. He was like our angel, putting us in his car and bringing us here—taking us from lost to loved! The volunteers say I’ve continued to be a wonderfully devoted mom while my little ones grow and play. And I’m growing, too! I arrived terribly underweight, but now enjoy lots of nutritious food every day. I’m a Heeler/Lab mix with an interesting past, ready for a carefree, happy future in which I give my sweet devotion to you!

Hi… my name is Buffy,

Adopted 1-2-17

I’ve had quite a time of it since I arrived! My mom had lots of other cats at her home in Amado, but when she moved into a small place in Green Valley, there was no room for us and we all had to be rounded up so we could come in to TALGV. In all the commotion, I managed to escape and was on the loose for quite a while, so although I was originally a sweet lady, I’m still a bit traumatized and it has taken me a while to settle down. That said, I’m a dazzlingly beautiful young Siamese and silver tabby girl, and I know that with love and patience on the part of a “cat person,” I’ll get back to my old self in no time.

Hi… my name is Atticus (aka Rotini),

Adopted 1-7-17

Our family is splitting in two and their new places won’t have room for my sister Q-tip or me. It’s a big change, but a big chance, too. Here, I could meet my forever best friend—one or more—and start sharing the good life with them! I’m 11 months old, a friendly, loyal Heeler mix who has developed some excellent qualities. My former owner said I was “great with cats,” (I hear not everyone can say that), know some important commands, and love to cuddle. But I’m most interested in you—or let’s say “us,” because I think we could have lots of fun and enjoy life just by being together. A handsome black and white male, about 55 pounds, I’m ready to be your devoted companion for a long, happy time.

Hi… my name is Chico,

Adopted 1-12-17

Bio from August 2016: I was a lucky guy to be rescued from the streets of Phoenix, but after my finders brought me home to southern Arizona, they couldn’t keep me. Turned out their resident dog did not want me to move in. So they brought me here, where I’m still dreaming of my forever home. Maybe it could be with you? I’m a little guy—just 6+ pounds—so I can promise not to take up much room in your home, but hope to take up a real big spot in your heart. My temporary people said that I loved everybody, and I agree that’s true. At 8 years old, I’ve learned that if you want love, it’s best to give it. If you agree, please come see me today. We could be perfect for each other!

Hi… my name is Q-tip (aka Dixie),

Adopted 1-7-17

When I was first adopted, I was part of a litter found in the desert and weighed just 8 pounds! Today, I’m a 55-pound, 17-month-old who’s learned a thing or two. Unfortunately, my family is splitting up and their new places won’t have room for my buddy Atticus or me. (We’ve lived together for the last year or so.) But I’m optimistic! After all, it’s a good thing to have some training under your belt, right? I know some important commands, and my former owners said I was good in the house even when they were gone. They described me as a “playful, loyal cuddler,” and said I was “great with cats!” Brindle and white, I’m a Heeler mix female who hopes my next home is my forever home with someone wonderful like you!

Hi… my name is Baxter,

Adopted 1-11-17

“Found in the Santo Tomas neighborhood. He is one of the local strays. Very friendly. HATES DOGS!” That’s pretty much it for what anyone knows about me. Well, except that, as stated, I really am very friendly – especially since I’ve been relying on the “kindness of strangers,” so having a home of my own has been a dream of mine for quite some time. They’re guessing my age at about 7 years (I guess teeth tell some sort of story in that regard), and with the distinctive dot near my nose (sort of a “half-moustache”), I’ve got charm as well. Now would be a good time to start your year off with a good deed, so why not make me yours? There’ll be happiness in store for us both!

Eli

Hi… my name is Eli,

Adopted 1-7-17

When I first arrived at TALGV, I’d sit at the fence dividing my doggie neighbor and me, and the two of us would silently touch our heads together for comfort. Maybe that story tells you the kind of gentle soul I am. Some folks see “Border Collie” and think I’m high energy, but the people I lived with for a few weeks described me as “very quiet, easy going, a great companion,” and a “great house dog.” They said I was gentle with small children, got along with other dogs, and love to play fetch. With two other dogs and two new babies, they rescued me but couldn’t keep me, so I’m here; a 3-year-old, 42-pound, white and brown male. The volunteers call me a treasure, but I just want to be called yours.

Hi… my name is Puma,

Adopted 7-8-17

Puma has achieved his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate!

I was a stray dog, but the volunteers quickly changed that description to “hidden gem.” They say I’m a special guy for lots of reasons—I’m sweet, easygoing, love people, and I’ve demonstrated by excellent manners by earning my Canine Good Citizen certificate. And sometimes I’m quiet, which is often because I’m dreaming of a place called “home”—a happy place, where I love my someone and they love me back. I’m 18 months old, tan and white, about 50 pounds, and one of the most adorable, fun-loving guys you could hope to meet. As you’d expect, I’m good on a leash, great company for people (but not for cats), and all I really want to be is yours. If you can make my dream of “home” come true, please come meet me soon!
