Hi… my name is Chico,

Adopted April 1, 2016

One evening, shortly before sunset, my friend Chiquita and I were left in a small wire crate outside TALGV—a terrifying and nearly defenseless position for two little dogs. Who knows what might have happened overnight, but, fortunately, someone spotted us in time and took us inside. As you might guess, we were each leery of people at first, but turns out that here they’re offering only good things, like food, a soft bed, and gentle affection. They take me for walks and I’m learning that together we can relax, play, and enjoy each other’s company. I’m a tan, stocky, full-of-life 8-1/2-year-old Chihuahua mix male, a little guy with big hopes of being welcomed into your heart and home today. I’m so ready to give you a lifetime of your very own Chihuahua love!

Hi… my name is Riley,

Adopted 10-24-16

Lao Tzu said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step,” and that’s what has happened for my friends, Mango, Moses, Bookstore, Ben, Petro, and me. Although our starting point wasn’t exactly that far away, we did come quite a distance in order for TALGV to save us from a shelter that is closing. It’s taking us a while to settle in after our long trip, but if you just spend a few minutes with us, you’ll see how much we’re all longing for human companionship and interaction – especially that wonderful ear and chin scratching! And purr? Well, let me tell you! We’re all “yearlings” who have tons of time ahead of us to be able to fill your heart and home with love – one purr at a time.

Hi… my name is Amor,

Adopted April 26, 2016

To see us cuddle and play, you might think my siblings and I have had only fun days, but our lives started with a struggle. After a difficult delivery, our mother couldn’t care for us and bottle-feeding wasn’t working. Just when things looked desperate, a small mother dog appeared! Her own puppies weren’t found, but she accepted us instead, making us three very lucky pups! Today we’re thriving, running and playing, sometimes falling all over ourselves. Our biological mom was an Otterhound mix, so that’s a hint of what we’ll look like. And, of course, we’re all adorable. I’m a female pup, black and tan with white markings on my head, neck, chest and each paw, and I have a whole lot of puppy love to give. How about I give it to you!

Hi… my name is Pearl,

Adopted June 7, 2016

I’m a happy, enthusiastic girl despite losing my first home through no fault of my own.   My person wanted to keep me, but the landlord wouldn’t allow it. She still really wanted me, so I was kind of “on hold” for a while, but eventually it became clear that I must have a new place to live. So, here I am, putting on my best smile and looking forward to a happy future. I’m what people call “optimistic.” I’m also pretty smart, according to the volunteers, so with some human help, I could become a well-trained companion. I’m a 40 pounds female Pointer mix,  white with some cool tan markings (especially around my eyes). Please come for a visit and I’ll show you what a fun-loving friend I can be.

Hi… my name is Ginger,
Adopted April 2, 2016

When I was just 3 months old, my mom left me in a wash. Before anything worse could happen, some humans found me and eventually brought me to TALGV. While with them, they said, I enjoyed playing with children and got along with cats, but was slow to warm up to men. I’m 22.8 pounds, a 5-month-old female Sharpei mix with a smooth tan coat and a sweet, quiet disposition. For fun, my favorite things are playing in water, playing with dogs I know and like, and cuddling with gentle people. I’m still very shy at first, but making progress with my patient friends, so if you could love a bashful but extraordinary pup like me and help me become the wonderful grownup dog I’m bound to be, please come meet me today.
