When my mom and dad moved back east to care for aging grandparents, they decided not to take me with them because I wouldn’t get the time and attention I deserve. Although it might take a bit for me to get comfortable with new people, they said, “He is a ‘true love’ once he gets to know you and loves to play and give kisses.” I’m a handsome, leggy, young tan and white shepherd mix who enjoys dog parks and spending time in the house with you (I’m crate- and house-trained, walk fine on a leash, and know the basics of good deportment). Like most “teenagers,” I need a “job” to do to keep my lively mind occupied, so if you’re the active type, I am too — and we’d make beautiful music together!

Hi… my name is Aspen.
Adopted December 20 2014.
When my mom and dad moved back east to care for aging grandparents, they decided not to take me with them because I wouldn’t get the time and attention I deserve. They said, “He is a great family dog who loves to play and go for walks, is good with voice commands, and just needs a loving family.” I’m an impressive young Catahoula/shepherd mix who enjoys other dogs (but not cats!) and spending time in the house (or anywhere!) with you. I’m crate- and house-trained, walk fine on a leash, and know the basics of good deportment. Like most “teenagers,” I need a “job” to do to keep my lively mind occupied, so if you’re the active type, I am too — and I know we could make beautiful music together!

Hi… my name is Peanut.
Adopted December 8, 2014.
Yep, the name suits me! But at only 8 pounds, there’s a lot of love packed into this little body! It’s always hard to imagine little guys like me running down busy Nogales Highway, but that’s where I was found, so being in “The Den” at TALGV is about as adventurous as I want to be! The volunteers say that I just “love to be loved,” and that if anyone wants a Velcro lap dog, they couldn’t do better than me. I’m a perfect gentleman on my walks, doing “my thing” when I’m supposed to, and then I’m happy to get back here and have some serious lap time. I’m a young Chihuahua lover who has been here a while now, so I’m hopeful that the holidays will see me under someone’s tree!

It’s a familiar story: my mom adopted me from TALGV when I was four years old and loved me to pieces, but as I matured, I didn’t appreciate the other two cats that lived with us, so my house manners took a bit of a hit. Mom’s pretty sure I’d be fine as an only child though, as she says I’m loving, sweet, lap-sitter with my people — I just don’t want to share their affections with anyone else! I am a quiet lady who adores my cardboard scratching board, and since I’m considered a senior at 10 years of age (which isn’t all THAT old in cat years!), I come with Free Vet Care for Life — so that, plus my warm personality, is a bonus I’m hoping you can’t pass up!

So you’re looking at me and thinking, “should I or shouldn’t I?” Let me weigh in on that decision and suggest you should! And let me count the reasons! I’m awesomely handsome. I’m sweet. I’m smart; I’m friendly, and I LIKE DOGS!! And I’m only about 2 years old, so just think of all the years we’ll have ahead of us making “whoopee” (or whatever!). The handsome part comes from my Russian Blue genes. The rest of it just comes from a great personality, the desire to have a home and person of my own, and just plain being grateful that I was rescued and can now share my gratitude with a human or two (and maybe even a cat-loving canine!). So as they say about exercising: just DO IT!

“Hanging around” sometimes gets you food and sometimes it gets you rescued. It did both for me! The lady who found me would have kept me in a minute but she already had too many other pets and felt I needed a home where I could get a little (OK a LOT!) more attention. She said I was a “really good cat” who wasn’t crazy about having my back or bottom rubbed, but loved head scratches and will meow for attention in case you need a hint. I’m a handsome young mostly white boy with a few “blushes” of gold in my fur just to show you how precious I am! In addition to black, white seems to be the “in” color around here these days, so why not “accessorize” with both?

My mom was 99 when she went into assisted living and I had to stay in her home alone for two months while a neighbor fed me. I was so shy and frightened when I arrived at TALGV that I’ve gone to live with a foster mom for a while to get my bearings again. Well, what a difference that’s made! I’ve made myself right at home and give her little nose kisses in the morning when I want her to get up. I’ll even talk to you if you talk to me, and I’ve become so much of a lap cat that you need to push me off when you want to get up! Oh, and I also have free “Vet Care For Life” as I’m 14 years old now (but in great health!), so that’s even one more reason to make this seasoned lady your own! Why not call TALGV and make an appointment to meet me!
