Hi… my name is Mariah.

Adopted June 12, 2015

I was living a pretty happy-go-lucky indoor/outdoor life with my mom and a dog until her circumstances changed precipitously and necessitated a move. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go along, and my mom wasn’t about to leave me behind to fend for myself (thank goodness!). So thanks to her and TALGV, I’m safe now and am hopeful I’ll find a new family who will love me as much as she did. I am a beautiful, playful, smoky grey and white, 2-year-old girl, and a cuddler extraordinare!  Since I grew up with a dog, I’d probably be okay with another one as long it showed the respect we felines deserve! I am looking forward to being an indoor only cat with a soft bed and new human or two to call my own.

Hi… my name is Tilly.

Adopted May 4, 2015

If you remember the classic National Geographic cover that featured a family of meerkats standing on a hill, then you’ll know why I look familiar! I have the same dark-ringed eyes and color coat — and am just as endearing as they were in the picture! I’m a 6½ year-old Chihuahua lady who lost her people when they had to move into a new assisted living home. I lived with them almost all my life, and they said that I enjoy smaller dogs, know a few commands (including “off,” but that wasn’t my favorite!), love to jump (I guess I need a fairly high fence, just in case), was protective of my people and home, and loved squeaky toys. Combine that with my sweet personality, and you have the makings of a new best friend!

Hi… my name is Mercury.

Adopted April 2, 2015

Some cats thrive on lots of action and others have a laid back nature, and the family that adopted me discovered that I’m the latter (they said, “Mercury needs a more relaxed and quiet environment”). I guess a home with two active kids and another cat was more than I could handle, as I’m basically a quiet, relatively shy guy who just wants to be with his person (on laps preferably). I’m not the “carry-me-around-the-house” type, but do love to snuggle and am a playful critter when the urge overtakes me! I’m started out as a kitten here at TALGV last year, and now I’m 10 months old and oh-so-ready to have a tranquil life where it’s just “me and my gal” (or guy — I’m not too particular!).

Hi… my name is Bernard.

Adopted April 27, 2015

It seems I took my life in my paws in order to be rescued! A truck almost hit me when I was crossing Old Nogales Highway, and when the driver didn’t stop I just stood in the middle of the road until the next person did! That Good Samaritan brought me here where the volunteers cleaned me up, fixed quite a few scrapes and bumps, and are now getting to know me more each day. They say that I’m one “sweet soul” who’s as easygoing as can be. I’m an “easy walker,” and just love to be loved by everyone I meet (the old saying “never met a stranger” sure goes for me!). I’m a 78-pound, approximately 5-year-old St. Bernard mix boy who is sure to thank you in myriad ways for making me yours.

Hi… my name is Rascal.

Adopted October 20, 2015

I guess I’m well named, because I’m pretty much what it implies — a big, silly, 50-pound puppy! I wandered into the yard of family on the far reaches of Sahuarita Road one day and never left. They put up “found” posters, but after three weeks of no response, they brought me here to TALGV so I could find the home of my dreams. I’m having a blast playing with my new doggie buddy, and I warmed up in a flash to all the volunteers. Although I‘ve probably never had any real training, I picked up leash walking in no time, and everyone agrees that with time and patience, I’ll be a superstar in the obedience department as well! At 1 year old, I’m practically a clean slate just here waiting for you!

Hi… my name is Vince.

Adopted June 26, 2016

Sometimes the best of intentions go awry. My folks had hearts of gold and, like lots of people, just couldn’t say “no” when a stray cat arrived in their yard. After they’d accumulated 20 of us (none neutered!), they realized that they needed help finding us safe homes, so TALGV’s Outreach Program came to the rescue. My mom said, “Vince is lovable and likes to cuddle and sleep next to or in your lap. He’s sometimes a bit rough when playing with fingers, but is a real charmer. He gets along with other cats, but has never been around dogs. He knows his name, ‘down,’ and is squirt bottle trained.” Well, between me and thee, I’m not crazy about that squirt bottle thing, but maybe we can work something out! Let’s try!

PS If ANY cat considers you for adoption, you know you’re pretty lucky, but if one of our few FIV cats picks you, you can be sure you’re REALLY special!

NOTE: FIV is a virus that can only be passed among cats (humans or dogs are never affected), and only through blood. Since cats rarely fight to the degree of drawing blood, FIV positive cats can live long and healthy lives with both other FIV positive cats and friendly non-FIV cats. So don’t let those letters scare you — they’re practically like everyone else and they’ll love you even more for choosing them!

Hi… my name is Precious II.

Adopted June 27, 2015

Sometimes the best of intentions go awry. My folks had hearts of gold and, like lots of people, just couldn’t say “no” when a stray cat arrived in their yard. After they’d accumulated 20 of us (none neutered!), they realized that they needed help finding us safe homes, so TALGV’s Outreach Program came to the rescue. My mom had tons of good things about me, but here’s just a sampling: “Precious is the most lovable kitten ever. She plays with anything and has no fear of cats or people. She’s very observant, and with only one eye is totally aware of her surroundings. She will sit for hours observing human or outdoor activity.” I’m betting all you’ll need is five minutes with me to discover that you’re in love!
