Hi… my name is Shelton.
Adopted March 20, 2015
Come on now! I know there are people out there who appreciate how positively awesome we cattle dogs are! And I’m no exception! I was found at a Shell station (hence my name!) and although I had a few ticks and minor scrapes, otherwise I’m healthy as can be. It’s obvious I belonged to someone, as I know lots of commands, am crate trained, ride great in a car, am friendly with kids and other dogs, and love to cuddle (especially in bed with you at night!). And then there’s the typical ball, Kong, stick, just-about-anything-I-can-fetch heeler side of me that craves exercise and action! They’re guessing I’m just a youngster, so just think of all the fun you’ll have ahead of you with me showing the way!

Adopted with Bentley 11-27-18
Petey has earned his AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate.
On seeing me today—happy, friendly and carefree—you might be shocked at how tough things were back when I was found. There was a heavy chain around my neck; fleas, ticks and sores all over my body. But even then, my rescuers said I was affectionate and eager to please; gentle, tolerant, and playful with their kids. That good nature carried me through the tough times and makes the good times even better! I’m a lively and fun-loving guy, just under 70 pounds, happy to see my friends, but no cats, please! Oh, you might like to know I’ve earned the AKC Canine Good Citizen certificate, awarded for my awesome performance in the behavior department! Yes, I’ll be a great companion for some wonderful someone, and I hope it’s you!

Although my housemate, Parushca, and I lived with a dog for several years, my mom and dad’s philosophy was “never the twain shall meet” and kept us separated, so the volunteers aren’t sure whether we’d be okay with a quiet dog or not. When our dad died, mom just wasn’t up to keeping any of us (I think we were “daddy’s girls”!), so as they say in the personal ads, we’re “actively seeking” peaceful, new homes (our people were of the “senior” sort!) where we can be our old laid back, gentle selves. I’m a totally lovely, young, medium-haired dilute tortoiseshell girl, and although I’m essentially pretty shy, I make up for that with my loving nature. I you have a lap that’s gone spare, wouldn’t you like me to fill it?

Adopted January 23, 2016
Wally has earned/received his American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification.
I was found in the Walgreen’s parking lot (hence my name), and my finders and the TALGV folks agree that I’m a happy-go-lucky 40-pound older pup. I’m proud of my Canine Good Citizenship Certificate, proof that I know my basic commands, and I love all activities: walks, playing fetch, swimming in doggy pools. Car rides are cool with me, and I behave well at community events, like Farmer’s Market. (TALGV friends are also helping me learn advanced commands.) I’ll gladly offer my belly for rubbing, and I bond well with kids of all ages, toddlers to adults. Most other dogs and cats are okay by me, too. I’d be the perfect fit for a person or family with lots of activity, so if that sounds like fun for you, too, let’s get together today!

Although I lived with two cats for several years, my mom and dad’s philosophy was “never the twain shall meet” and kept us separated, so the volunteers aren’t sure whether I’d be okay with cats or not. When my dad died, mom just wasn’t up to keeping any of us, so as they say in the personal ads, I’m “actively seeking” a peaceful, new child-free home (my people were of the “senior” sort!) where my laid back, but very-protective-of-my-person self can come shining through. (My mom said, “Please be gentle with Snuggles because he is a very loving and affectionate dog!”) I’m a cute Lhasa Apso gentleman who’s looking for one last lap to sit on and one last “love of my life” to lavish all my attention on!

Read MoreHi… my name is Munny.
Adopted March 17, 2015
I’ll let my foster mom tout my virtues because they’re pretty awesome! “Like the action figure toys that she’s named after, Munny (a 3-month-old heeler/SharPei mix) is perfectly named because she’s a blank slate that her new family can take down multiple paths. She’s super smart and has already mastered the sit and down commands, making her an excellent candidate for obedience school. Her athleticism makes me think she could also make a great agility dog when she gets a few months older, but she’s already got some pretty smooth moves around the furniture and in the yard! She’s crate-trained and sleeps through the night has a good start on housetraining. That’s all pretty impressive for a puppy that still has all her baby teeth! And did I mention she’s cute as a button?”

Think stroking velvet and you’ve got me! And boy do I ever love to be stroked! My rescuer’s neighbors moved away and left my mom and two siblings in the yard. Mom and one kitten disappeared (I don’t even want to think about what happened to them!); my Good Samaritan kept my sister, and since he couldn’t find a home for me, brought me here where I’d be safe. He said that I’m a total charmer, who loves chasing a laser pointer, and want to be with people and kids all the time. I’m just a youngster, so am still “into” things like kittens are, but my favorite thing is being held, loved, and made to feel secure, so I’m hoping that’s something that’s at the top of your agenda!
