Animal League News

Hi… my name is Roxie.

Adoptd December 10, 2014.

When I was rescued a few years ago, I lived mostly outside and hadn’t learned all the fine points of indoor living. Well, “baby, you should see me now”! I’m a shepherd mix girl who’s been living with a foster family that says, “Roxie is now the perfect indoor dog. She has NEVER had an accident in the house. She’s happiest when she’s with her person, loves attention, is good with any size/personality dog, (fairly quiet!) children, and seems uninterested in cats. She is a tad leery of men, but is receptive if a woman is present. She loves to give kisses (she’ll lick the makeup off your face!), and is in a Canine Good Citizen class. She’s a totally wonderful ‘made to order’ dog!” So with those credentials, plus I come with FREE Vet Care for Life, how can you go wrong?

Hi… my name is Frank.

Adopted with Honey Bear 5-26-17

I spent my life living as a “community cat” until I was trapped and brought to TALGV so I could learn proper “people skills.” Well, the volunteers are astonished at my progress! It’s taken lots of time and patience, but I’m happy to report that I’ve made great strides in enjoying petting and brushing, and I’ve come out of my shell and discovered that human companionship might actually be a good thing! I get along with the other cats here (especially Honey Bear!), and am available to someone who will allow me ample time to get used a new home and people. If you’re a patient “cat person” who can accept that I might never be a lap sitter (but you never know!), won’t you please consider me?

Hi… my name is Punkin.

When jealousy rears its ugly head, there’s usually a price to pay! I should have known better, but after living with my brother all my life I just didn’t want to share my people’s attention with him any longer, so I started harassing him to the point where everyone was upset. Aside from that one tiny flaw, however, I’m a charming, outgoing, bundle of fun who loves to play with paper balls, in paper bags and boxes (no plastic ones, though as I apparently like to chew on them!), and am a “low maintenance” kind of guy who is a pretty “cheap date” in the cat toy department! I’m a handsome, orange and white, youngster who loves people (I’ve never been around kids or dogs, so not sure about them), so I’ve got my sights set on a family who only wants one feline to shower their affection on. Maybe you?

Hi… my name is Vanish.

Adopted 3-18-17

Sometimes when you think that your “lonely” cat needs a friend, things don’t always work out quite the way you’d planned. Our mom adopted my friend, Ninja, and me to keep her resident Himalayan company, but after two months, it was pretty apparent that he was perfectly happy being the only feline getting attention (we were both the object if his wrath), so I’m hoping that I can find another home where I’ll be the only kid in the house, or at least find one with another tolerant cat (preferably the first option though!). I’m young torti girl with a light blaze on my nose, and at my age, I’m still a kitten at heart who will entertain you no end. And, of course, if you’d like double the fun, there are many cats here who would be happy to accompany me to your place! Why not banish the summer doldrums with a perky, peppy pair of pals?

Hi… my name is Gremlin.

There are cats who like other critters and there are those who don’t. Were I the former, I’d still be in my home, but I didn’t get along with the other cats or dogs in residence (except for my sister, Mina, who I was quite attached to). Since Mina has been adopted, I’m looking for new digs where it can be just me and you. Although I’m shy at first, I do love people and am very loving at heart. Once I get to know you, I adore lying next to (or on) you and sometimes become so relaxed I actually drool I’m so happy! My people were sad to see me go because they said I’m a beautiful, affectionate young torti lady who loves toys, to be held and cuddled. So wouldn’t it be nice to have a warm and loving friend to spend your days with?

Tux

Hi… my name is Tux.

Adopted 11-9-16

Tux comes with FREE Vet Care for Life.

The volunteers say that I’m way overdue for a home of my own! I’ve been at TALGV since 2009, and am a totally handsome, longhaired Tuxedo gentleman who is that in every way: I’m gentle, never use my claws, have a soft voice, adore laps and petting, like to help with household chores, and even enjoy assisting you with crossword puzzles if you’re of a mind! I actually did go to live with a family once, but the resident cat and I had our “differences,” so I’m hoping for a home where I can be the only feline in your life. Not to toot my own horn (but who else will?) – I don’t think you’ll find a better addition to your life than me! And I come with Free Vet Care for Life – so there!

Hi… my name is Abby,

Adopted 10-13-17

My mom fell in love the day she met me here and we shared a joyous life until she moved to assisted living. Now everyone says that I’m sweetness itself, but sort of like “the little girl with the little curl” — when I want love, I nudge and rub until I get it, but when I’ve had my fill, I’ll let you know that too! I’m a gorgeous, longhaired torti girl, who’s sometimes chatty, and sometimes laid back, but almost always like to sit in your lap or just be near you. I get my exercise playing with feather toys and laser lights, but do have a tendency to overeat, so a Weight Watchers regimen might do me good for a while! Won’t you be the one to make this time around a charm for me?

Hi… my name is Cheta.

Adopted April 6, 2014.

No, it’s not “cheetah” like the wild cat, it’s CHETa, which means “cat” in Norwegian — and I’m about as far removed from “wild” as can be! My mom and dad went into assisted living, so after eight years with them, I’ve got to find new family (preferably an older person or couple) to spend my life with. My people said, “He is likely to be shy at first, but once he warms up, he’ll talk to you and purr like crazy.” Since I was allowed outdoors sometimes (that’s a “no-no” here in the desert), I might occasionally make a try for the door, but if you keep your eye on me (and give me other interesting stuff to divert my attention!), I’ll be in your lap in no time. I’m a handsome, longhaired, grey and white guy and if you give me a chance, I know you’ll love me as much as my mom and dad did.

Hi… my name is Callie Sue.

Adopted December 6, 2014.

We cats sometimes get attached to a “place” as well as our people, and when things change, so might we. I lived with my mom and dad for three years, and everything was hunky-dory until they moved here and my house manners took a bit of a nosedive, so I’m hoping one more change of scenery (and some good house manners examples at TALGV) will give me a whole new outlook on life. I’m a stunning, longhaired calico lady, who knows how to walk on a leash (so I’m safe and can’t chase birds!), will “put up” with a non-aggressive dog (but would rather it be “just me”), and don’t like kids much, but other than that, I’m a downright quiet and loving lady. So won’t you give me just one more chance!

Hi… my name is Libra.

For a relative youngster, I’ve led a pretty exciting life (and not necessarily the best kind of exciting!). A family in Sahuarita found me when I was about to have kittens, so they kept me until they were born and weaned and then brought us here to TALGV. Since we were living outside much of the time, we all contracted ringworm (and I have a scar on my throat from what might have been a dog attack), but after being treated for four weeks, we’ve all been pronounced healthy as can be, and I’m half-past ready to get on with my life in a safer, indoor environment! I’m a lithe, classic tabby and white girl, who is very friendly, outgoing, and love to play. I’d rather not live with dogs again though, so if you have a quiet home where it can be just you and me (and maybe another feline), that would suit me to a “T”!

Hi… my name is Lady.

Sometimes when people and animals have survived debilitating physical problems they are more kind, tolerant, and appreciative of their new lives. Well, that’s my story, so I’ll share it with you in hopes that you’ll be that one extraordinary person who will help me through the rest of my life. When I arrived at TALGV, I had a terrible skin infection with most of my fur gone, an infected cyst on my side that they found contained cactus stickers when it was removed, and was badly malnourished (happily I was FELV/FIV negative though!). It turns out that I have severe allergies that will require medication, a warm water bath twice a week, and grain-free food for life, but if you can manage that (it’s not hard and I’m used to it!), you will have one of the most gentle, loving cats that ever walked the planet! Won’t YOU be the Samaritan that makes my dreams come true?

Hi… my name is Clyde.

I was adopted on April 18, 2014.

A couple found me a while back and although I was microchipped (someone cared about me once it appears!), they couldn’t track down my owner, so they had planned to keep me. Unfortunately, I didn’t get along with their male dogs (or their cats either, truth to say), so they felt that I needed a home where I was the only canine (or at least the only male). They did say that I was an “excellent dog,” am housebroken, walk well on a leash, and enjoy human companionship more than anything. I’m a young and handsome mix of yellow Lab and shepherd, and although I’ve not had any formal training, I think it would be fun to learn a whole bunch of new stuff with my next family. When the thought of adding a big, strapping guy to your world pops up, I’m hoping you’ll give me a look.
