Hi… my name is Drake.

Adopted December 31, 2014.

If I were to put a “personals” ad in the paper, it would be “big, strong guy looking for big, strong guy (or gal!) to spend quality time with.” My family adopted me as a puppy and was sure they’d have time for my education, but with two small kids growing up, it didn’t happen that way, and my training sessions got left in the dust (of the back yard!). I’m a big galoot of a guy, but I’m all happiness and energy, and that’s why I need someone who is familiar with Staffies and our personality. My people said, “Drake has a lot of potential – he means well, we just don’t have the time to teach him. We are trying to do the right thing by giving him an opportunity for a fulfilled life.” There’s no doubt in my mind that with confident leadership that includes consistent rules and cheerful praise, I’ll be one totally awesome companion!

Often we torties look like we’re scowling, when that’s not true at all – it’s just the contrast in our markings that makes us look that way! In my case, it may be that I’m a little shy at the moment because I’ve been living outdoors for a while and have had to guard against marauding desert dwellers. My rescuer fed me for a few weeks (she couldn’t take me in because she already had quite a few cats), so when it was apparent that no one was searching for me, she arranged for me to come to TALGV where I’d be safe and have a good chance of finding a new (indoor!) home. Despite my experience “out there,” I’m a sweet (thus “Dulce”!) young lady who is friendly and loves being petted. If you have a screened porch or nice big window, I know I’d be happy with that for years to come!

Hi… my name is Diamond,

Adopted 5-7-17

Diamond has earned/received her American Kennel Club (AKC)  Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification. She comes with FREE VET CARE FOR LIFE!

My sister, Ruby, and I lived happily for a long time with mom, dad, and a small dog (no kids or cats), but they went their separate ways and I’ve been at TALGV ever since. Ruby was adopted by a wonderful family and now, oh please, it’s my turn! I have excellent house manners and am quite loveable—ask any TALGV volunteer. One of them recently took me to her home where I met goats, pigs, horses and burros. How much fun was that! I was what dog folks call “non-reactive” to all of them (except birds and chickens), so I’d be an excellent ranch dog. Honestly, I’d be an excellent, loving companion anywhere. I come with Free Vet Care for Life, and a lifetime of love, too. Won’t you take me home today!

Hi… my name is Ruby.

Adopted July 14, 2015

RUBY COMES WITH FREE VET CARE FOR LIFE PROGRAM.

She earned/received her AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification on July 6, 2015.

My sister, Diamond, and I lived with our first family all our lives until they lost their home and moved to a place that didn’t allow big dogs like us. A year after we came to TALGV, another couple adopted us and we lived happily with them for two years until they decided to go their separate ways. Our little family consisted of a mom, dad, my sister, and another small dog, but no young kids or cats. (I got along well with older children who visited, but in my enthusiasm, I tend to play a bit rough, so maybe I should avoid small critters in general!). I’m happy to report I’ve earned my Canine Good Citizen certificate, and being 8 years old now, also come with Free Vet Care for Life, so if you want a companionable, well-behaved friend, I’m the lady for you!

Hi… my name is Spitfire,

Adopted 6-10-18

I was named Spitfire when I arrived as a kitten way back in 2012 because I was really feisty and swatted at humans—a lot! That’s because I lived in a feral cat colony before one of the employees rescued me. But during my five years here, the kind volunteers have been patient with me and I’ve become a new cat. I LOVE to be petted, even asking for it with a beseeching meow (I’m a real talker!), and then I’ll purr like crazy once you get the message! I’m still anxious around new people and will sometimes run from them, but I know that a loving home with patient companions will help me learn to trust and, who knows, I might even become a lap cat! Won’t you PLEASE give me a chance?

Hi… my name is Miss October,

Adopted 9-17-17

After my dad died, my mom went into a senior facility, and a sweet lady brought me here but she didn’t know much about me. Turns out I’m a beautiful, friendly, laidback, medium-haired solid black lady who will greet you when you visit and play with you if you bring me one of those enticing dangly toys. I love to have the occasional romp, but I also love to just hang out with people. I really want (and need!) a loving home where I can cuddle to my heart’s content and have a few toys of my very own that I don’t have to share so much! I’ve been here quite a while now (too long in my estimation!), so won’t you help me move on with my life?

Hi… my name is Spice.

Adopted 6-21-17 (presently resides at TALGV)

I’m a pretty young calico girl who’s a single mom!  Yes, I came to TALGV with four beautiful kittens, and most have already been adopted.  A nice lady found us in a backyard and brought us to TALGV, which is tons better than hanging around outside in this heat with no food – and it was difficult raising four little ones when you don’t have a home.  There’s no Food Bank for cats!  I’m finished with my “mom duties” now so I’m looking for my forever home with a nice family.  No more kids for me!  I’m very sweet and I’d be very affectionate and grateful to the person who chooses me.  So come take a look at me.  Don’t you think I deserve a good rest now that my parenting is over? And I can keep you company while I’m having it!

Hi… my name is Pumpkin.

Adopted December 29, 2014.

It seems like everyone is moving these days and not taking their pets with them, but my family moved out of the country, so I understand that it was hard to take me along, too. I lived with them for three years (they inherited me from a friend who was, you guessed it, moving!), so I’ve lived with a young couple, a 6-year-old whirlwind human, another cat (with whom I was madly in love!), and a puppy, and I must say that I much preferred the first four over the puppy! I’m a very easy going, orange tabby guy who loves to be brushed (I need it periodically as I tend to shed a bit), and because I really miss my feline lady friend, I would probably love to have another one to chat with about “cat things” and life in general. I’m eminently adaptable, so I’m hoping you’ll be the same, and take me into your life!

Hi… my name is Smokey 2.

Adopted 3-23-18

I’ve been here almost six years and am soooo ready for a new (child-free) home! Some of the volunteers are enormously fond of me because I’m the first to jump onto their laps (and others not so much because I’ve nipped them – which is probably why I’m still here!). But I haven’t done that for ages, as they’ve learned that I only want so much petting and then I’m done (I purr plenty though just sitting in your lap). I prefer not to be picked up, but I’m really too heavy for that nonsense anyway! (Like humans, accessible food 24/7 and too little exercise are to blame for my girth!) So if you’d like to share your life with a handsome gentleman who doesn’t require much petting, come down and see if I like you.

Hi… my name is Roman

I was adopted August 3, 2014.

I’m an exceptionally good-looking, long-haired, solid black young boy who came to TALGV with my two brothers back in the spring of 2012. There isn’t a whole lot I can say about my life before we were all brought here because the only thing our erstwhile “family” said was that our mom had four kittens and one ran away. That’s it for a biography! However, I’ve turned into a super handsome boy with long and luxurious ebony fur, and I love playing with my all feline friends here as well as anyone else (of the human sort) who happens to be available! I know I’ll make a super friend and companion for anyone because as you can see from my pictures I love to be loved. So come meet me – you and I will be “an item” forever!

Hi… my name is Binks.

Adopted December 23, 2015

I am a handsome glossy black guy who came to TALGV when my military dad was deployed overseas and couldn’t take me with him. I lived with my family for four years, and they said that I’m gentle and tolerant with kids, get along with other cats and some dogs, and although I can be quiet, I still love to play with toys. I also like to groom other cats once in a while and to have a furry body to sleep with (but of course if you don’t have cats, I could probably “make do” with a furless human!). I’m extremely loving and friendly, and I am absolutely positive that I’m going to be a charmer of the first order when you and I make a life together!

Hi… my name is Jacob,

Adopted February 14, 2016

Keeping a low profile isn’t something I necessarily want to do it’s just that with so many other tabbies here I tend to get lost in the shuffle. And that’s really a shame, because I’m a wonderfully sweet, gentle, laid back guy who would positively shine in my very own home. I’ve been at TALGV since June 2012, and even though I sometimes get discouraged, my heart still believes there is a special person out there just for me. I get along well with all my roommates here and have lived with another cat and kids in the past, so I think I’m pretty well designed for just about anyone. The grapevine has it that there are lots of homes out there needing feline friendship, so let me fill that need in just one!
